Official Visit to Brazil (8-19 April 2024)

From 8 to 19 April 2024, I visited Brazil to assess the situation for human rights defenders in the country.

I will present my findings in full to the Human Rights Council at its 58^th session in March 2025.

While on an official visit to Brazil, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights defenders Mary Lawlor and her team are standing amongst men and women members of the Sales Pimenta Working Group, in an office building after a meeting.

While on an official visit to Brazil, UN Special Rapporteur on human rights defenders, Mary Lawlor, is standing next to two human rights defenders from the Quilombola community in Bahia, with her arm around one of them. They are the sons of two human rights defenders who were assassinated.
