I’m hearing deeply distressing news from Russia: renowned NGOs International Memorial and HRC Memorial, who I have known & admired for over 20 years, are at grave risk of being dissolved for alleged breaches of the Foreign Agents Law, a law which does not comply with international standards.
I really fear that if these two organisations are dismantled, it is only a matter of time before the rest of civil society in Russia is targeted. Despite being a UN Human Rights Council member, Russia is showing flagrant disregard for UN values with this move.
